2.01 still not getting myEbay items

Reported by e4effect | February 23rd, 2009 @ 05:47 AM | in 2.1 Release

2.01 seems to be great, but it still does not get myEbay items (whether using the "Get My Ebay items" or the "Search Ebay" commands). You can add items manually by drag and drop or with the auction number. As with previous versions, the doubleclick option: "make a comment on the auction" does not work on Mac OS X (10.5.6), but that is a minor issue indeed. It's a great program!

Have now compared several previous versions and the last one which will get myEbay items successfully is 2.0beta11-736.

Is the appropriate search activated in Edit -> Find?

From 2.0.1-719 on I had no problems retrieving searches.

    Sincerely,

    Therese

The search certainly seems to be enabled (pressing the enable button does not change anything). We are talking about the "My eBay" search - Only on Command - Enable Repeated Search ticked. jBidWatcher 2.0.1-825, Mac OS X 10.5.6.

Get My eBay Items menu command does not find any newly added items, nor does the search My eBay function.

The last version which works properly in getting My eBay Items is 2.0beta11-736

    • Tag set to my ebay, 2.0.1-825, error, irubyobject

I have the exact same issue as e4effect. The only difference is my OS. I'm running jBidWatcher 2.0.1-825, Mac OS X 10.4.11.

From the Activity Log: Tue Feb 24 06:37:48 EST 2009: Synchronizing with My eBay... Tue Feb 24 06:37:53 EST 2009: Done synchronizing with My eBay...

My "My Ebay" prefs (on the site) are set to show Watching by default and to display 50 items at a time. I'm currently watching 15 items, none appear in jBidWatcher.

The only problem I can find is in the Error Log: Tue Feb 24 06:36:50 EST 2009: JBidwatcher 2.0.1-825 Tue Feb 24 06:36:51 EST 2009: Apple Computer, Inc. Java, version 1.5.0_16 on Mac OS X Tue Feb 24 06:37:03 EST 2009: Error setting up scripting: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jruby/runtime/builtin/IRubyObject

    Greetings,

Do these suggestions help any of you?

I'm still looking into the My eBay issue, but take a look at that and see if it helps at all. (And please do let me know if it does or doesn't!)

    Dear Morgan,

took a look into the hints; the answer for this is a 'definitely not' in my case (German user with ebay.de as standard site).

JBW tells me it's synchronizing with 'My eBay', however nothing appears in the custom tab I've created for it. Moreover this custom tab is gone on every restart.

    Error log is attached.

The derby log has grown to something like 25MB. If needed too pls let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Therese

    Hi Morgan.

Your suggestion was correct. By changing the default settings for my.ebay.co.uk to "- Watching", jBidWatcher 2.0.1 picks up all new watched items. However, as soon as I change the default display setting for ebay back to "- Saved Searches", jBidWatcher fails to pick up any new watched items.

Since I have had "Saved Searches" as my default ebay setting for a long time, the question is what has changed in jBidWatcher 2.0.1 (actually in 2.0) to prevent it seeing watched items. Previous versions of jBidWatcher (up to 2.0beta11-736) were able to get watched items regardless of the preferred ebay setting (though I was aware of the problem of listing just 10 items, and that it could be overcome by changing the my.ebay.co.uk display preferences.)

As Tripp Fenderson said above, the only error which appears in the jBidWatcher log is: Wed Feb 25 02:08:18 GMT 2009: Error setting up scripting: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jruby/runtime/builtin/IRubyObject

In the log for 2.0beta11, when loading new ebay watched items, it says the following:

    Wed Feb 25 03:19:36 GMT 2009: Bad input tag: button id="EditButton_7433" class="sfbtn" onclick="return vjo.dsf.EventDispatcher.run(this,event,'click')"
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:36 GMT 2009: Loading page: http://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBay&CurrentPage=MyeBayBidding
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:39 GMT 2009: Bad input tag: button id="EditButton_6075" class="sfbtn" onclick="return vjo.dsf.EventDispatcher.run(this,event,'click')"
Wed Feb 25 03:19:39 GMT 2009: No items on page!
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:39 GMT 2009: Loaded 250377942957.
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:41 GMT 2009: Loaded 160316090562.
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:41 GMT 2009: Not loaded (150328042076).
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:41 GMT 2009: Not loaded (120380655675).
    Wed Feb 25 03:19:41 GMT 2009: Not loaded (160312416249).

(and so on...) The first two items in this list were new, and all the rest were already listed.

The log for 2.0.1 is pretty empty and makes no entry at all in connection with the "get My eBay Items" command (when my.ebay.co.uk prefs are set to "Saved Searches"). Though it gets My eBay items properly when the ebay prefs are set to "Watching", it still makes no entry in the log.

    Hope (some) of this helps!

    Greetings,

@e4effect - The Error setting up scripting is nothing to worry about; JBidwatcher supports scripting some parts of it in JRuby if it finds a JRuby library to use. Since including it slows down program start by around 3-5 seconds, and bulks the app by about 7MB, I don't include it anymore.

For 2.0.1, make sure that you have 'Debugging' turned on in JBidwatcher's Configuration Manager. (It should be on the 'General' tab.) If you don't, you won't see a lot of those messages. Pre-releases, betas, and alphas all have debug forced to 'true', so I can debug better. Releases (e.g. 2.0 and 2.0.1) obey the configuration setting.

Update - in the meantime JBW 2.01 has retrieved My eBay watching items, but not in the desired custom tab, but within the current.

    Win VISTA32 SP1, Java 6.12.
