Linux, Firefox drag'n'drop doesn't work but with konqueror it works

Reported by AxelG | January 10th, 2009 @ 02:08 AM | in 2.1 Release

Hi Morgan,

as discussed "somewhere" else ;) here is a new bug (not urgent in my eyes) which I investigated with 2b10-722...

I'm using KDE-4.1.3 on a gentoo intel-quadcore-64bit (anyway amd64 code) PC.

Once I'm using firefox drag'n'drop doesn't work but it works with KDE's konqueror-4.1.3.

debug.uber=true in JBidWatch.cfg brought the attached output (unfortunately it doesn't write everything to errors.log so I had to grab it from the console...

Best Regards Axel

Ah; it looks like what's happening is that FF is dropping a large block of HTML on JBidwatcher. Normally JBidwatcher handles this (it parses it like an HTML document and looks for links) but if the HTML isn't formatted as links, or doesn't start with a tag, then JBidwatcher won't recognize it.

After I've put 2.0beta10 to bed I'll push a beta11 to the next.jbidwatcher.com site with even more debugging stuff set, and we'll see exactly what the text that Firefox is dropping on it is.

I can confirm that drag&drop works with Konqueror but not with Firefox on X11. It was however also not working in the past.
