Relisted items
Reported by brucknerdoc | May 25th, 2008 @ 05:00 AM | in 2.0 Full Release
using 2.0b3
If an item in my current pane ends without a winner, the listing winds up in my complete pane as it should. If the seller relists the item (maintaining the same auction number), that item winds up reposted in My Ebay page automatically but no longer in the current pane of JBW (as it used to). In fact, if I try to add the auction manually (or thru check My eBay), JBW complains that the cannot be added as it is already listed.
It can be added once again if i manually delete the completed listing, but I prefer the previous behavior.
thanks!

Relisted items with same eBay number? Are you absolutely sure about this?
I'm asking cause I've relisted several items as a seller during the past years (the last one just a bit more than a week ago) and NEVER, not one single time, got the same number for the relisted item.
Wouldn't make much sense from a database engineer viewpoint, too: The eBay item number is a primary key and as such should and must be absolutely unique. You can call an item knowing the number and nothing else, so if it were the same number, which item should be called? The ended or the relisted one.
Maybe I got you wrong or eBay actually has changed something during the past days, although I can't imagine why due to the reason given above.
It would help if you could give some explanation or example.
What may actually happen is that JBW reports an auction falsely as ended due to storage inconsitencies in the new JBDB database format -- especially when you restart JBW or your computer the program in v2.0B3 still seems to loose or mess up some data. But that too wouldn't be a problem of duplicate item numbers but of a messed up local database.
I observed such a behaviour the day before yesterday and as you mentioned had to delete the auctions form the completed tab to re-add them again.
Sincerely,
Therese

Greetings,
No, eBay re-uses auction numbers for 'store' listing items, which are effectively perpetual. Generally they have a 30 day term, and at the end of the 30 days are automatically reset to the start of the 30 day term. They aren't auctions, but rather fixed-price listings.
JBidwatcher did used to pick those up and correctly recognize them as ongoing.
I'd be curious to know if the upcoming beta fixes this back to the old behavior, as I've made a lot of changes in that area.
