Ended auctions not moving to completed and indeletable

Reported by Therese Telepski | July 8th, 2008 @ 11:53 AM | in 2.0 Full Release

Dear Morgan,

with JBW2.0B4 it seems to happen quite often that ended auctions do not move to completed -- and can't be deleted as well, i.e., you can hit 'Del' or choose 'Delete' in the context or main menu, but nothing happens. See attached screenshot.

After a shutdown and restart of JBW this problem was cured, but one of my custom columns was completely gone.

Sincerely,

Therese

    Addition:

This morning I won another multisnipe. The custom tab 'Won' wasn't shown any more by JBW 2.0B4, and the auction stayed in the current tab.

Conclusivly the other items of this multisnipe group weren't cancelled even though the error log states they are.

I've attached the latest error log and a screenshot.

    Greetings,

Hey; do me a favor and download 2.0beta4 again, from the exact same spot as before. As usual, if you can, back up your data first.

It should fix a lot of the issues that have come up, including auctions with bad titles, and the non-USASCII characters showing up as box characters.

I'd like to get a feel how much of the issues you've been having it resolves, which'll tell me how close to a new beta I am.

    Hi Morgan,

    done for downloading.

First notes after starting the new JBW 2.0B4 twice:

    (a) The column order I defined still isn't preserved after restart. E.g. I'd like to have an order like

    ... - Max - Current - Shipping - Total - ...

I switch it in that order. After a restart that always reads

    ... - Max - Shipping - Current - Total - ...

    (b) I've created my custom tabs for 'Won' and 'Outbid' again. After restart the 'Outbid' tab was gone. However after recreating it once more it 'remebered' the custom column setting I had set for this tab.

Regarding other issues (auctions moving to assigned tab, auctions indeletable etc.) I hopefully can tell more in a day or so when some of my auctions have ended and maybe a multisnipe has been won.

    Sincerely,

    Therese

    Dear Morgan,

the first auction where JBW managed to place a bid on has ended.

This auction didn't move to the custom tab 'Outbid' as it should but remained in the grid.

After all it was deletable, so no need to restart JBW.

An additional pluspoint is that the recognition of mutula vowels (ä, ö, ü) and special signs is back again.

I've attached a screenshot and the latest error log.

    Sincerely,

    Therese

This issue is a variation of ticket 203 from beta3, but has taken on a new, random behavior in beta6. Auctions now may or may not update, and may or may not move to completed tab. Sometimes they just "stick" in current and can't even be deleted.

It seems the "sticking" in current tab behavior after auction end is most prevalent when an item is relisted, even though it is allocated an new item number.

Greetings, Can you give me an old and new item number as an example?

I have expired item #110277821936 stuck at the top of my current list. I received an email that this unpurchased BuyItNow item had been relisted.

When I click the link in the email, it takes me to the same page as JBidWatcher does for the expired item, although the relisted URL has a suffix:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...:B:WNARL:US:1123

Perhaps unrelated to the stuck problem, this relisted item is current listed as "This item has ended. ... The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale."

"Greetings, Can you give me an old and new item number as an example?"

Ok, a couple of recent ones are:

120289836992 (original item number) 310073738032 (relisted number)

    and

160268129277 (original item number) 160270148411 (relisted number)

The behavior appears inconsistent in that the items can stick in the current tab despite being a few hours beyond finish time and despite restarting jbidwatcher. However, it seems that if I restart jbidwatcher after a longer time (eg, overnight) the items do move to the completed tab.

Don't know what you can find or reproduce because the problem has rectified itself now. Remember that I have only identified that relisted items "seem" to be the type of item that stick most stubbornly in the current tab after finish, but that other items do so at times as well.

Quitting and relaunching 2.0b6 moved my "stuck" auction from current to complete.

Update: I can confirm that Ward's reported behavior has happened for me too, but I have been running without closing for 36hrs and jbidwatcher seems to be behaving itself with respect to this issue. I had reported before that the issue was inconsistent, but lately it's been consistently good. Confusing, I know. Is this perhaps indicating instead some 'feature' of ebay that has changed, since I haven't changed version of jbidwatcher or java? (BTW: all my dealings are with ebay Australia if it makes any difference)

After a good run for a couple of days, the bad behavior has re-occurred :-(. Another example of a relisted item that has not moved to 'complete' tab is this:

160270148411 (original item now finished) replaced by 150281898477 (relisted number for different item identical description, detail and seller)

I'm hoping these updates are helping point to cause of bug, but I've updated enough now so will stop posting in case it becomes noise :-)

I also had a stuck auction that would not go to complete. In addition I had an old one in complete I was unable to delete. Quitting and relaunching 2.0b6 both deleted the auction in complete and moved the auction from current to complete.

I have had several auction bids fail to snipe in the past several days, and also stuck after the auction. Likewise, they can't be deleted, either. The last was Auction# 280253543235. Like everybody else, shutting the program down and restarting it removes the stuck auction from the current tab and moves it to the complete tab. v2.0b6 W'XP Pro
